Padova Calcio is nearing a deal with Antonio Calabro to lead the first team. The Pugliese coach, who has been with Carrarese for three seasons, is the main candidate for the biancoscudata bench and the management is constantly discussing with him in the last few days. According to Il Mattino di Padova, the negotiations are now in the final stages, although some details still need to be defined, starting with the contract termination with Carrarese. Calabro had renewed his contract a year ago until 2027, but sources close to the clubs indicate that the Apuan club should not oppose his departure, considering a cycle that has led to a historic promotion to Serie B and two quiet saves. The main issue concerns the technical staff, which must agree on the transfer with Padova. Among Calabro's collaborators are Giuseppe Padovano, the historic vice-coach, and Riccardo Saponara, who is making his first experience as a coach after retirement. On the biancoscudato side, instead, historical figures such as goalkeeper coach Adriano Zancopè and athletic coach Matteo Zambello should be confirmed. According to what is leaking from the society, the white smoke is expected next week, after which the club can focus on the market and the strengthening of the team. Calabro's choice is also linked to his tactical approach: the coach prefers the 3-5-2 or the 3-4-2-1, schemes already known to the Padova players.
